Date: 4/1 - 4/01
What is a census: The census is a count of everyone residing in the United States.
Who: All U.S. residents must be counted - people of all races and ethnic groups, both citizens and non-citizens.
Why: The U. S. Constitution reqauires a national census once ever 10 years. The census will show state population counts and determine representation in the U.S. House of Representatives.
How: Census questionnaires will be delivered to households via U.S. Mail in March 2010. Many households will receive a replacement questionnaire in early April. Census workers also will visit households that do not return questionnaires.

| Cycle 4 Life & the Town of Banner Elk Kids Bicycle Clinic |
Date: 4/3 - 4/03
Starting at 11 AM, a free kids' bicycle clinic will be held in the Banner Elk Town Park. This clinic will be run by Doug Owen, former 8-time Team National championship head cycling coach for both the Lees-McRae and Appalachian Cycling teams. Doug also coached the teams to 17 individual National Championships. It will run until 1 PM. there will be obstacles built around the park including log piles, a rock garden and steps. Your child will be given a chance to learn how to ride over these obstacles and improve their bike handling skills. The main objective of the clinic is to give kids the confidence to ride their bikes and help parents feel better about allowing their kids to go out riding with their friends or even just over to their friends' homes. Once the Greenway Trail is completed, your child will have all the skills needed to go out for a ride right here in Banner Elk.
This clinic is completely free and is brought to you by Cycle 4 Life Bike Shop, the Town of Banner Elk, Omega Tee's, Food Lion, Lowes Lumber, Banner Elk Cafe-Lodge, the NC Governors Highway Safety Program and Glenda Ward of Farm Bureau Insurance.
